Get To Know Us : Shane Ivey, Joe Crowe

Here's a letter from a woman who lives in Europe.

"Dear Jon, before I got to know you, I was nothing, nowhere, nobody. I had bad teeth and couldn't afford braces. And then one day, I got to know you. Well, I never got those braces, but today they call me Queen Elizabeth!"

Get to know me! -- Jon Lovitz, Saturday Night Live, 1988

Joe Crowe, RevolutionSF co-founder, senior editing boy

1. Why are you so awesome?

My goodness. Where to begin?

2. Why is RevolutionSF so awesome?

Because we give and give and never take. You were right to come to us.

3. Green Lantern or Thor?

Thor, because he is us. We can all relate to having evil siblings and a hammer.

4. Favorite law of robotics:

Turbo boost is only for emergencies.

5. Favorite monkey:

Igoo from The Herculoids, because he was a gorilla made out of rock.

6. Favorite Billy Idol song:

"Don't You Forget About Me" He covered it on his greatest hits. An 80s guy covering an 80s song caused a temporal vortex of sweetness.

7. Plug Something (by you or someone you love):

I edited and co-wrote Assembled! a book about Marvel Comics' Avengers that benefits Hero Initiative. I wrote about Marvel cartoons and the 1970s Captain America movies. A sequel is in the works for this year.

And I whomp stuff up on RevolutionSF. You are already there.

Shane Ivey, RevolutionSF co-founder, site administrator, grand poobah

1. Why are you so awesome?

I am not all that awesome, but awesomeness surrounds me. I started RevSF and Arc Dream Publishing, which means I get to work with awesome writers and artists all the time. I am a facilitator of awesomeness.

2. Why is RevolutionSF so awesome?

It just is!

3. Green Lantern or Thor?

Green Lantern has the better costume, but Thor has Beta Ray Bill.

And being vulnerable to a color, how lame is that? I mean, I have hardly any superpowers at all, and I can stand on a yellow floor ALL DAY LONG.

4. Favorite law of robotics:

"There's nothing wrong with murder, just as long as you let Bender wet his beak."

5. Favorite monkey:

Mr. Cuddles. He's a spider monkey that my daughter made up for a little diary that decorates the endpapers of my company's new game, Monsters and Other Childish Things.

6. Favorite Billy Idol song:

"Rebel Yell", just like the last time Joe asked everybody that question. (Note from Joe: Seriously. I just won't shut up about it.)

7. Plug Something (by you or someone you love):

Can do!

If you like World War II, get Godlike.

If you like monsters and childish things, get Monsters and Other Childish Things.

If you like grim superhero comic books like they sell the kids these days, and you don't mind waiting for the new edition to come out this summer, get Wild Talents.

If you don't know what a roleplaying game is, buy them anyway. You'll figure it out.

Joe Crowe can be found at the site you are on right now. Shane Ivey, too.
