Trailer Probe : Sherlock Holmes
© Joe Crowe
May 20, 2009

Trailer Probe watches sci-fi-ish movie trailers to help you waste your computer time wisely. Geek explosion content is reasons you will like it, dork disengagement level is why you won't.

Sherlock Holmes

Dork disengagement level: Sherlock Holmes is a brilliant detective who solves mysteries in his funky hat and he says "Elementary, my dear Watson." That's what everyone knows about him. If you only want that, don't see this, for it appears to not have that.

Robert Downey Jr. is not Iron Man here. If you want him to be Iron Man in a movie, do not watch this one.

Rachel McAdams is a saucy lady in the trailer. If that's not your thing, avoid at all costs.

Geek explosion content: Many fine and distinguished actors have played Holmes, such as Basil Rathbone, Christopher Lee, Patrick Macnee, Peter O'Toole, Matt Frewer, and Tom Baker.

I don't think any played him with his shirt off.

The giant Holmes fights was a WWE wrestler in the 1990s. Here's a clip of him if you feel led to watch. He's in the tie-dye shirt.

That fight with the giant is my lord and master. I am its willing thrall.

Downey's accent only changes once in the whole trailer!

So yep, this pretty much rules.

"Watson, what have you done?"

Geek explosion level: 900,000 geek parts per million.
