New Perseus in the new Clash of the Titans talked smack about Bubo.
In the April 9 issue of Entertainment Weekly, Sam Worthington said he did not like Bubo, the robot owl that was one of the awesome things about the original.
Granted, it's pretty silly. But it's awesome in its silliness. Director Louis Leterrier got that. He put in a Bubo cameo. His talk about Worthington's reaction to the owl is fun stuff.
Leterrier said, "He wanted to destroy it. He'd say, 'This is a ridiculous thing to have in the movie!'"
Leterrier told him, "I'm not trying to ruin your career. I'm just trying to damage it a little bit."
It's good that Leterrier can laugh in the face of an enraged Sam Worthington.
Worthington said, "That owl did not deserve to be in our movie. It had its own movie. It had its own time. This is our take on the movie."
That's a good point. Since everyone is remaking everything, we should allow them to leave the silly parts out. Except in Clash, the silly parts were the best things. They'll just have to add new silly parts. Like Liam Neeson's sweet Bee Gees costume. I dig it.
But still, you have to love Bubo. Come on, New Perseus. It's a robot owl.
