Sci Fi Dads : The Ultimate List
© Joe Crowe
June 17, 2010

On Father’s Day, we honor the dads that made our favorite sci-fi and nerd-related book, TV, movies, and comic book heroes and heroines who they are. Or who they were a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away. Or who they will be in post-apocalypse. Anyways, time to make with the honoring.

Captain Jack, Professor Membrane, Leela's Dad

This list also includes Zeus, The Comedian, Ben Linus, and Buffy's dad.

"You should listen to your brother. Maybe if you did, he wouldn't be so insane."

Jango Fett, Elrond, Kyle Reese, and Darkseid

This list also includes the Cigarette Smoking Man, Pa Kent, Highfather, Angel, Adama, and the number 1 dad, which you have to click to see. You know you want to.

"Life is like a box of chocolates. A cheap, thoughtless, perfunctory gift that nobody ever asks for. Unreturnable. Because all you get back is another box of chocolates." -- Cigarette Smoking Man.

Dr. Venture, The Phantom, and Donkey Kong

This list also includes Sandman, Hurley's dad, Mulder, Arthur Petrelli, John Winchester, and a number 1 dad, which we ain't tellin'.

"Hank, quit bragging to your brother about your circumcision." -- Dr. Venture

HRG, Superman, Sisko, D'Argo

This list also includes John Locke's daddy, Teen Wolf's pop, the great father of Manimal, and a number one that you will find when you click the thing. It's free, honest.

"Listen, son. You're going to be able to do a lot of things the other guys aren't." -- Howard Howard

Emerson Cod, Worf, Chuck's Dad

This list also includes Lucius Malfoy, Michael Knight, Cyclops, and one more that you will find rather delightful, I daresay.

"Future Me is saying I told you so all upside your head. But Now Me is standing here quietly." -- Emerson Cod

Walter Bishop, Midichlorians, Kirk's Dad

This list also includes Man-At-Arms, Ming, the Doctor, and another dad who is totally deserving of a tie with fish or sailboats on it.

"Pathetic earthlings. Hurling your bodies out into the void, without the slightest inkling of who or what is out here. If you had known anything about the true nature of the universe, anything at all, you would've hidden from it in terror." -- Ming the Merciless.
