The Sci-Fi Hall of Lame is for the most confusing, condescending, and irritating characters in nerd-related stories. So that none shall ever forget.
Samantha Mulder
She was the reason for Fox Mulder's FBI career, and the reason he was interested in the X-Files to begin with.
Samantha Mulder disappeared when Mulder was a teenager. He thinks she was abducted by aliens.
Then he found her.
Then he found her again, without mentioning the previous time he found her.
She was a clone, then she was alive the whole time and raised by Cigarette Smoking Man and just wanted to be left alone.
Then Mulder found out the secret. Even though he already knew the secret. She was about to be abducted. So benevolent spirits called "walk-ins" disintegrated her. Starlight People. She got peace. Not abducted. But peace through disintegration, then she frolicked in a phantom fairy land.

Yeah. You better run.
I understand dragging out a conclusion to a long simmering plot. I also understand not giving out the final answer to a long-running quest.
But giving out answers that profess to be correct every season or two, then returning to the scene of the lame crime time and again: that is just not cool.
Mulder took the news of his sister's disintegration with acceptance. As if he forgot that his adult sister was hanging out with Cigarette Smoking Man and calling him Daddy.
He had peace. A sense of well-being. Even though Samantha was obliterated from existence by fairies.
So then, do we find acceptance and peace in welcoming into the Hall of Lame the sister who would not come back or go away. Sharing a bathroom with her must have been pure hell.

Pretty sneaky, sis.
