Trailer Probe helps you decide what sci-fi -ish TV shows to DVR while you are watching Glee. Geek explosion content is good parts, dork disengagement level is bad parts, geek parts per million is total nerdy enjoyment.

Awake

Dork disengagement level: When this show was a pilot, it was called REM. That would have made us think it starred the band REM.

I would totally watch a show where Michael Stipe solved crimes.

This one, though, looks like a major bummer. Or does it?

A cop and his family are in a car wreck, and one of them dies. Then he wakes up and and in one, his wife is alive, and in the other, his son is. So he goes back and forth, while also solving cases. Or does he?

Jason Isaacs is suitably hard-boiled and grim, but I fail to see the upside for the resolution of this story for this poor sap. If the setup of the show is resolved, he loses one of his family members.

There appears to be no paranormal stuff at work here. That's probably not what the show is about. Or is it?

If it's not, then this guy is just crazy. And that's the whole show. Or is it?

Geek explosion content: It stars Lucius Malfoy from Harry Potter and Fez from That 70s Show.

Or does it?

It really does. I'm sure of it.

Or am I?

Geek explosion content: 550,000.
