Terra Nova has been canceled, leaving fans who saw a few of the episodes a little irritated, but they'll be OK in a few minutes.
Here's the full news story.
The show was an action show with live-action dinosaurs. I thought that would be hard to mess up. I was naive. So very naive.
It started awesomely, as I wrote here in my review of the first couple episodes.
It was expensive, like all things are, and even though ratings were adequate, Fox TV did what it does best. Doesn't American Idol make them some money?
The news story spends a sad amount of space saying that the show is looking to be picked up by another network. Ha! That trick never works.
The show toppled into mediocrity in only episode 3, into the sci-fi TV cliche of characters losing their memory.
The show had moments of excellent sci-fi. It addressed all the nerdy time travel questions, even making them a subplot.
It was an old school family show in its best moments, unlike tense melodrama that afflicts many sci-fi-ish shows. It was about a hopeful future. Well, hopeful after everyone left the sucky future. It usually ended with the family hugging and looking at the stars. That is sweet.
But not sweet enough! Ha ha ha! In your face, briefly good sci-fi show! That's what a network executive would say, if he could post on the Internet without help.
